GOVERNOR ELIOT SPITZER CANNOT RESIGN YET
Tuesday, March 11th, 2008Resign he will but just not quite yet. Spitzer cannot resign until he works out a deal with the Federal prosecution. What started as a State case has become a Federal one when the call-girl crossed state lines to rejoin him. This entire hullabaloo about impeachment or resign shows once more the media power in forcing an issue and its resolution. No one knows accurately, though pundits have a clear idea, what goes on behind closed doors. Let’s not forget that Spitzer is a prosecutor lawyer, who worked for the D.A. office, and therefore knows all the ins and outs of the legal machine. So, as soon as he closes a deal with the Feds, he will publicly give his resignation. Should he become an example and become the fall guy, the Feds will take their sweet time in negotiating a deal, by which time he might be impeached leaving way to the Feds to prosecute him to the full extent of the law.
