IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE

President Bush’s presence at the private fundraising event was hardly noticed. The camera had only 47 seconds to shoot the President with McCain and Mrs. McCain. Nonetheless, the event though short was delightfully satiating. The event gathered $3 million, which brings McCain’s total cash to $4.5 million. $1.5 million came from an earlier fundraiser he attended in Denver.

Bush will keep raising money by attending various events. Wednesday, he will join Mitt Romney in Utah at two events, while McCain is campaigning in Reno and Los Angeles.

Now that Obama feels certain he won the Democratic nomination, his true colors are coming out. Unable to match McCain’s military status he uses every means possible to discredit him. Of the private fundraising, he implied, “Today, John McCain is having a different kind of meeting. He’s holding a fundraiser with George Bush behind closed doors in Arizona. No cameras. No reporters. And we all know why. Senator McCain doesn’t want to be seen, hat in hand, with the president whose failed policies he promises to continue for another four years.”

To which, Tucker Bounds, of McCain’s campaign, quickly responded, Whether the issue is global climate change or urging a more effective strategy in Iraq, John McCain has had clear but respectful differences of opinion with the President. However, it isn’t surprising that Barack Obama is trying to disguise his own lack of depth and weak leadership on the issues with political generalizations and superficial attacks.

PRESIDENT BUSH OFFICIALLY ENDORSES MCCAIN.

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

After winning the GOP nomination last night, John McCain has made a luncheon stop at the White House, where President Bush officially endorsed him. The President stated he will attend as many campaign events as his schedule permits. Additionally he said: “John showed incredible courage, strength of character and perseverance in order to get to this moment, and thats exactly what we need in a President.”

Will the President with his present low ratings end up hurting McCain remains to be seen, but as he added, “It’s not about me. I’ve done my bit.” He continues by explaining that the recurring and expected theme of every election is change. Every new president wants to change policies for the country’s benefit. In a democracy, no new President will follow up in the footsteps of the previous one he is replacing. And so will McCain do. “He has been his own person. He has blazed his own trail and he will have to make the case as to why voters should vote for him.” concluded President Bush.

Needless to say John McCain is facing an upward battle in convincing the American people of the importance of our troops in Iraq but above all have them agree with him in extending his pursuit to Afghanistan and Pakistan (if need be) to eradicate once and for al-Qaida. Aside form this issue, he better makes sure he has a very concrete plan to ease our economy and the trade. He must explain to the majority of the American people that whether we like it or not we live in a globalized world and as such import and export go hand in hand and that goes for labor too - a point that Obama seems to ignore or is unfamiliar with since he lacks international policies’ savvy. And last but not least, the urgent issue of health care. Those topics will be the decisive factors in the November elections.
