  • MEDIA’S INFLUENCE ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

    Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Once again the media’s influence on the political scene is proven.

By carefully editing broadcasting clips of Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s sermons, the American population can only conclude what the puppet master wants it to
    see that:

Obama is not the ethical and straight forward man he portrayed himself to be throughout his campaign.

How sad to see again how power is mishandled. The media’s job is to keep us informed with no bias.

    Instead, what do we get:
short clips of speeches, edited comments, embarrassing photos, in short a whole gamut of bias articles and opinions.

That is not what journalism is all about.

It is about informing the people in its entirety.

By broadcasting edited clips of Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s inflammatory statements the media has succeeded in arousing the American people’s indignation and probably refueling not so dormant racism.

Out of context Rev. Jeremiah Wright is a traitor to this country, but within the context of history and his preaching, what the reverend was doing is keeping alive the flame of all the racial injustice African-Americans have and oftentimes still endure today.

There is nothing wrong with remembering these times but what is wrong is not letting it rest and start building and bridging a healthy future where all Americans can indeed enjoy equality and pursue happiness, regardless of color, race and creed.

That is what true democracy is all about.
